PERSONEL DATA PROTECTION LAW COORDINATOR
According to the fifth paragraph of the Provisional Article 1 of the Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data, it is stipulated that a senior executive will be designated and notified to the Presidency to ensure coordination regarding the implementation of this Law in public institutions and organizations.
In accordance with this provision, Dr. Özgür SEZER, the General Director of Health Information Systems, has been designated as the senior executive responsible for coordinating the implementation of Law No. 6698 within the Ministry of Health, as per the Ministerial Approval signed on 06.02.2025.
To ensure compliance with Law No. 6698 in the personal data processing activities of the central and provincial organizations of the Ministry of Health, as well as the healthcare providers operating at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels within these organizations, the Health Informatics Legislation Development Unit has been established under the Department of Standards and Accreditation within the General Directorate of Health Information Systems.
Duties of the Health Informatics Legislation Development Unit:
- Coordinating the compliance of processes and applications carried out by the central and provincial units of the Ministry of Health and the healthcare providers affiliated with them, with Law No. 6698 and secondary regulations.
- Informing and raising awareness among the central and provincial units of the Ministry of Health and the affiliated healthcare providers about the protection of personal data, and conducting necessary training activities.
- Ensuring compliance with Law No. 6698 in data transfers, data verification, or system integrations between the Ministry of Health and other public institutions, organizations, or judicial authorities, and preparing the necessary protocols for such activities.
- Preparing and updating the legal and administrative regulations required by the Ministry of Health in the field of personal data protection, and providing support in lawsuits filed against these regulations.
